'Like, We're Actually in Hell!' Randy Rainbow Serenades Dr. Fauci in COVID Parody Video

Singing political satirist Randy Rainbow, sporting a pandemic hairdo, returned to YouTube with a fresh new video featuring one of America's trustworthy sources of COVID-19 information. The new video, "Gee Dr. Fauci," is an update on the classic "Gee Officer Krupke" from the musical "West Side Story."

The video picks up in media res, with the shaggy-headed Rainbow confiding in Dr. Fauci, an immunologist who has headed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for 36 years. "I know you're not a shrink, but I just didn't know who else to go to," Rainbow tells the attentive Fauci. "I mean," Rainbow continues, "my country is a mess! I'm not even talking to it right now."

"I just feel there's no leadership," Rainbow adds; "And the president is even attacking you!"

As the music rises, Rainbow jumps in with: "Dear darling Dr. Fauci, we know you're smart as hell; you're certainly no slouch-i. You made it through Cornell! You fought some bad infections, but now you hit a wall - with the worst infection of them all!"

Cue the appearance of the current occupant of the Oval Office.

"Gee, Anthony Fauci, so calm and precise - your raspy voice is sexy and your glasses are nice," Rainbow continues, before zeroing in on Fauci's most trustworthy assets - which, ironically, have earned him the enmity of the Trump administration: "You follow the science; on facts you rely. You only want us not to die.

"What a guy!"

The Rainbow Chorus pops up at that point with: "What a guy, what a guy, what a lovely guy. Like, he only wants us not to die!"

Unlike, say, the president and those in his coterie, summarized by Rainbow as "unethical buffoons." Croons Rainbow: "Oy, Anthony Fauci, their strategy sucks: They slander all the experts and promote all the schmucks. And still, some are buying the garbage they sell - please save us, Fauci, we're in Hell!... No, like, actually, we're all in Hell!"
