Don't Expect Joe Manganiello to Play Big Dick Ritchie Again
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Don't expect any Big Dick in the third installment of the "Magic Mike" franchise. Big Dick Ritchie, that is.
Joe Manganiello said yesterday he doesn't plan on appearing in the sequel (if one is made). "I'm retired," the 43-year old hunk told People Magazine.
He does, though, keep in touch with Matt Bomer, his co-star in the first two films. Bomer and Manganiello attended drama school at Pittsburgh Carnegie-Mellon University. (Pittsburgh is the actor's hometown.)
"We always talk," Manganiello says. "I got so much from going to the drama school that I went to in terms of learning and technique, but one of the great things that I got is all of the friends I have that work in the business. And one of the great things is the friendship that I have with Matt. Matt and I always stay in touch, and talk and catch up, and grab lunch."
Whether or not he is retiring remains to be seen, but he did mention "The Sleepover," his latest movie in which he portrays a jewel thief opposite Malin Akerman that debuts this weekend on Netflix. He told People how he enjoyed taking part in the film's "big choreographed fight scenes."
"It was a way to make people laugh through physicality and tell the story that way, which was really fun," Manganiello says. Action is also crucial to his upcoming "Archenemy," due out next year; "we got to tell the story through combat," he says.
What's also crucial is Manganiello staying in shape. He hits the gym six days a week in the home he shares with his wife Sofia Vergara to prepare for these physically challenging roles.
"It's different at 43 than it was 33, but it's a lot of fun."
