Watch: Don't Cry for Orangina: Lincoln Project Brings 'Covita' to Life in Scathing Ad

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

The Lincoln Project has made numerous scathing videos against President Trump, but they may have achieved their biggest success to date with "Covita," which appropriates Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's anthem "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" with COVID-appropriate, anti-Trump lyrics.

In "Evita" the song is the musical's highpoint, recreating an actual event when Eva Peron stood on a balcony and Buenos Aires and addressed her ardent supporters, called the "descamisados," with a mix of poignancy and political savvy.

This time around it highlights the President's showboating and carelessness when he returned to the White House on Monday evening, putting on a show on the Truman balcony and then entering the Presidential residence without a mask.

"Don't cry for me, White House staffers! The truth is, I will infect you," sings a big-voiced (and unidentified) singer in the style of Patti Lupone (Broadway's original Evita), who tweeted her own response to Trump's photo op moment.

"As for wearing masks and acting sane, that is something I will never do!" continued the parody, showing images of the president pointedly refusing to follow CDC guidelines, reports Raw Story.

There are no credits on the ad on the Lincoln Project YouTube channel as to who created the video.
