Since Chia Pet was first introduced in 1977, there have been a Chia Obama, the Chia Golden Girls, Chia Deadpool, and Chia Richard Simmons. But this year the line of terracotta figurines that sprout green hair gets its first drag personality with the RuPaul Chia Pet.

"Shante and get ready to slay the house down with the limited edition RuPaul Chia Pet!" reads the product information on its website. "Show off your charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent with this sickening Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia Pet featuring the world's favorite drag superstar!"

Chia Pets became popular in the 1980s due to extensive television advertising with its trademark catch-phrase "Ch-ch-ch-chia!" heard against time-lapse photography of the growing chia. "These 'pets' come in the form of clay figures that serve as a base for a sticky paste of chia seeds; the figures then are watered and the seeds sprout into a form suggesting a fur covering for the figure. About 500,000 chia pets a year are sold in the US as novelties or house plants," writes Wikipedia.

RuPaul posted an Instagram to promote the product that features an animated gif of the RuPaul's clay figure showing her hair growing into an asymmetrical style while the famous "Chi-chi-chi-chia" plays on the soundtrack.
