He also is having a very good year, despite the pandemic putting public performance on hold. "While the world reeled, the 30-year-old musician and actor put out his first number-one hit album and fell in love with Megan Fox," writes Interview. He also is pivoting to from rap music into pop-punk territory with his hot pink guitar (seen in the Spin Magazine cover photo).
He also is continuing an acting career, which began in 2014 when he played a self-involved rapper in the romantic drama "Beyond the Lights." Since then he had a recurring role as a Pearl Jam roadie in Showtime's "Roadies," played Tommy Lee in Netflix's Mtley Cre drama "The Dirt," and has roles in a number of upcoming films, two in post-production ("The Last Son" and "Murder in the Switchgrass") and two in pre-production ("Punk" and "One Way").
It was on the set of the thriller, "Murder in the Switchgrass," he met Fox. "After weathering the ensuing tabloid storm, the two have since settled into a relationship that Kelly admits has afforded him a measure of peace," writes Billboard.
In his Spin Interview, Kelly identified a moment last January when he was visiting Interscope Records when he saw his career take a dramatic change. "That meeting did exactly what I wanted it to do," MGK says, "which was to have everybody, as soon as I left the room, say to each other 'What the fuck is Machine Gun Kelly doing?'''
