The Nickelodeon series "iCarly" ran for six seasons, from 2007 to 2012. Now its stars are set for a return in a streaming platform revival, Variety reports.

The new series is part of the makeover in which CBS All Access will transform into Paramount Plus in early 2021, noted The Hollywood Reporter. The revival is set to include several of the show's original cast, who will reprise their beloved characters, now grown up. Miranda Cosgrove will play Carly Shay, while Nathan Kress returns to portray the onetime boy next door, Freddy. Jerry Trainor will also be on hand, playing Carly's older brother, Spencer.

The original show's premise is that Carly and her best friend Sam, played by Jennette McCurdy, start a web-based talk show. The program becomes a huge hit, creating a need for Carly and her friends to learn how to balance life and show biz.

Fans will note, however, that media reports do not indicate that McCurdy will rejoin her former co-stars to reprise the role of Sam. Nor has there been any indication that the role will be re-cast.

"During its original run, the show proved to be incredibly popular and broke ratings records for Nickelodeon," Variety noted.

The show's revival follows a trend in which streaming services, in need of fresh content, dust off old properties. Paramount Plus, The Hollywood Reporter article said, "is in the process of adding content from across ViacomCBS' suite of brands, including Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV and the soon-to-be rebranded Paramount Movie Network."
