The trailer for HBO Max's new series "Genera+ion," which premiers March 11, has just dropped, according to EW.
The dramedy – created by 19-year-old Zelda Barnz and her father Daniel – focuses on a group of high school teenagers exploring relationships and sexuality while navigating life in a conservative community.
The cast includes Justice Smith ("Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom"), who just came out as queer last Summer. Nathan Stewart-Jarrett ("Misfits" on E4 in the UK), Martha Plimpton ("Raising Hope" and "The Real O'Neals") also star alongside newcomers such as Chloe East, Uly Schlesinger, Chase Sui Wonders, and Haley Sanchez. Sam Trammell ("True Blood") and John Ross Bowie (Barry Kripke on "Big Bang Theory") will appear in recurring roles.
In production, "Genera+ion" received criticism after when two extras departed filming after dead cats were brought on set for a biology class dissection scene. Turns out, the cats were real and HBO Max said "everyone involved was informed in advance" with assistant directors regularly checking in with the cast. After the extras "expressed discomfort" and were "released with full pay," HBO Max said the scene would be nixed and expressed regret over the situation.
The first half of the season will air March 11 to April 1, with two episodes per week. The second half of the season will air later in the year.
