Review: 'Godzilla' is Bigger and More Intense on 4K Ultra HD

The monster blockbuster is back!

In an era where "size matters," it doesn't get much bigger than this! Own "Godzilla," available now in stunning 4K Ultra HD, and watch the King of the Monsters go on a rampage in director Gareth Edwards' 2014 reboot of the classic Japanese disaster franchise.

With technology finally catching up, the rubberized suits and novelty miniature sets have been replaced with CGI, increasing the threat levels to gargantuan new heights and the destruction to incalculable depths of collateral damage. Edwards (who would also go on to direct the hit "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story") treads carefully into dangerous territory with his remake, which was always intended to kick off a brand new franchise for Warner Bros., leading up to the this spring's blockbuster sequel, "Godzilla vs. Kong."

Featuring an all-star cast that includes Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, and Sally Hawkins, Edwards weaves an expert and respectful adventure that pays great homage to the monster's Japanese cinema origins, while ramping up scale and proportions to meet audience expectations. The film also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olsen, both famous for "Avengers: Age of Ultron," though here they play a married couple on either ends of the earth separated by the movie's real star: Godzilla!

There's a sufficient amount of character and story development, along with an excellent amount of epic adventurous escapism, and the film looks and sounds spectacular on a home-theater system. But make no mistake: "Godzilla" is not a deep-thinking dive into the horrors of man's arrogant betrayal of our planet's resources and the dangers associated with exploring unethical science and the consequences that such acts much sow – it's a monster movie! There's one really big monster, and he's gotta take out two other big monster before they destroy everything.

The action is loud, the destruction is rampant, and the people caught in between are casualties of the explosive battle between these superpowers, so grab the popcorn, super-size the soda, and enjoy.

The 4K Ultra HD presentation of the film brings the cinema right into your living room with an unprecedented picture quality that brings Godzilla and his disastrous campaign to life. The colors are vibrant and the dark shadows are rich, making for the perfect at-home theater experience. The accompanying Blu-ray includes all the legacy special features that take the audience behind the scenes and into this world populated with giant lizards and flying terrors. The in-story documentaries reveal more about the monster and the existence of others.

Own "Godzilla" in 4K Ultra HD and get ready for the ultimate showdown as cinema's two titanic powerhouses clash in the upcoming "Godzilla vs. Kong." Now, who are you going to root for?

"Godzilla" is available now on 4K Ultra HD on Digital for $24.99.
