Any list of the hottest new stars in Hollywood right now will have Anthony Ramos's name near the top. The 29-year-old, NYC-born actor first attracted attention as a member of the original cast of "Hamilton." That show's creator Lin-Manuel Miranda was so impressed that he cast him in the starring role (with Miranda played on Broadway) in the upcoming "In the Heights," the film version of Miranda's first hit that hits theaters and HBO Max in June. On Thursday, Variety reported that Ramos "is in talks to star in the upcoming 'Transformers' sequel for Paramount."

"'Creed II' filmmaker Steven Caple Jr. is directing the film, which is scheduled for June 2022. The plot has been kept under wraps as the studio continues to search for the female lead to star opposite Ramos," Variety adds.

Ramos also released a new single, "Say Less," ahead of his second album, on April 2. "This music is more grown," said Ramos in a statement reported byUDiscoverMusic.com. "It feels like where I am in my life right now. It represents moving from your twenties into your thirties. It's for the late nights."

He continued, "My first album was really autobiographical. It was about my life and what happened to me. This is more of a feeling. I wanted to capture some of the dark parts of a human being. I wanted to embrace the side of me I've never publicly embraced – the sexual side."

In 2018 Ramos launched his music career, first with "The Freedom EP," then after signing with Republic Records, his first album, " The Good & the Bad," which he described in 2019 as "part of the fabric of who I am."

Last summer he released the first single off his upcoming album, "Stop." The song, UDiscoverMusic describes, "took on a new resonance in 2020, encouraging listeners to take a pause, be present, and make the most out of their lives. Its poignant music video, meanwhile, featured Anthony Payne, a real-life barber who lost his job due to COVID-19. Refocusing his life, Payne began cutting people's hair on the sidewalks in exchange for donations to Black Lives Matter."

In "In The Heights" Ramos plays "Usnavi, a bodega owner in the Manhattan neighborhood of Washington Heights," adds Variety. "His other screen credits include 'A Star Is Born,. in which he played the hype man for Lady Gaga's Ally, and .Godzilla: King of the Monsters.'" In addition, Ramos appears in HBO's reboot of the Emmy-winning series "In Treatment" opposite Uzo Aduba. He was also one of the up-and-coming actors featured in Calvin Klein's new Spring 2021 campaign alongside stars like Megan Thee Stallion and Jacob Elordi.
