Out Bi Actor Anna Paquin Shuts Down Critique of Her Marrying a Man

Out bisexual star Anna Paquin wasn't having it when her marriage to fellow "True Blood" alum Stephen Moyer became the subject of criticism on Instagram.
"I am getting tired of seeing 'bi' celebrities constantly advocate for it only to end up conventionally married to men with multiple children, living out the so-called white-picket-fence life," an Instagram user commented in response to a post in which Paquin celebrated the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia.
As Entertainment Online reported, the comment was part of "a barrage of hateful comments" in response to her posts about the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia.
Paquin clapped back, responding: "Ah yes ... the 'you aren't queer enough' BS.
Later on, Paquin returned to Instagram to post a couple of follow-up rejoinders, one of which invited "those who put their bigotry on display" to "hit that unfollow button right now," while another reaffirmed her identity as "a proud bisexual."
"If he doesn't have a problem with it why should anyone else?" Paquin posted, apropos of Moyer.
Paquin married Moyer in 2010, several years into the seven-season run of "True Blood," which saw Paquin playing a mind reader and Moyer her vampire love interest. She came out as bisexual that same year in a PSA supportive of LGTBQ equality.
The two joined up professionally once more in 2019 for "Flack," a comedy executive produced by Moyer in which Paquin stars.
As per ET, Paquin discussed being bisexual and married to a man in a 2014 interview with Larry King, explaining at the time that though she and Moyer were "happily married" and "monogamous," her relationship status did not erase her sexuality.
"Are you still straight if you are with somebody, and -- if you were to break up with them or if they were to die, it doesn't prevent your sexuality from existing," she said. "It doesn't really work like that."
