'Thor' Director Taika Waititi Responds to Viral Kissing Pics with Rita Ora & Tessa Thompson

"Thor" director Taika Waititi is responding to steamy viral pics that show him getting cozy with girlfriend Rita Ora as well as actor Tessa Thompson, who stars in the Marvel film that he helms.

In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, the Oscar-winning screenwriter said he was pretty surprised that the pic got any attention at all.

"I think in the world of the internet, everything goes away pretty quick. And also, is it that big a deal?" he asked. "No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It's fine."

Not only did the Internet care but so did his bosses apparently. It was previously reported that the viral pics didn't please execs at Marvel Studios. A source at the time told the Daily Telegraph that they reprimanded Waititi, who is finishing the new "Thor" film, for the viral snaps. A source close to the film's production told the paper the behavior in the pics is "not exactly the image they're looking to project in relation to one of their biggest franchises." They added that even though he has a reputation of being a "party animal," Marvel execs said the pics "crossed the line."

"Thor: Love and Thunder" will hit theaters on May 6, 2022. It finds Chris Hemsworth returning as the titular hero and marks Waititi's second "Thor" film. It will also be his follow-up to his 2019 film "Jojo Rabbit," for which he won a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar.
