Aquaria Pushes the Envelope with 'Sensitive Content' Thirst-trap

READ TIME: 3 MIN.

Aquaria knew she was always destined for stardom. "Her strong work ethic, profound dedication to her craft and drive to make people laugh has carried her all the way to the top," writes Yahoo! Life in an interview with the winner of Season 10 of "RuPaul's Drag Race."

But did she think she was destined to have a photo be labeled as sensitive content by Instagram? Such is what happened to the 25-year old (aka Giovanni Palandrani) this past week when she posted a pic of herself in on a boardwalk in the Fire Island Pines to Instagram and got slapped with a sensitive content label.

In the pic, shot from below, a tanned Aquaria stands on a boardwalk in a light blue suit that shows off a considerable package with a blue kerchief around her head and falling across her right shoulder. For footwear, she wears a pair of pink sandals with ankle straps.

"First WINNER to come back as the pit crew!," commented one fan on his IG feed.

As for the sensitive content label, one fan wrote, "We always knew the algorithm was homophobic." Another wrote, "This getting flagged as sensitive is sending me," followed by two flame emojis.

And a third said, "It's still the age of aquaria for me," followed by two smiley-face emojis.

Aquaria took home the crown three years ago beating Eureka O'HaraandKameron Michaels. On the show, she won three main challenges, never ranked in the bottom two, and was the first queen in the show's history to win both theballand the "Snatch Game" in the same season, reports Wikipedia.

She subsequently placed 11th on Vulture's list of "the most powerful drag queens in America", a ranking of 100 former"Drag Race"contestants in 2019.

"The first reigning Gen-Z queen entered theDrag Raceorbit with the bona fides of a performer well beyond her years after coming up through the NYC club circuit under the wings of nightlife legends Susanne Bartsch and Amanda Lepore," Vulture described her. "Since her win, Aquaria has launched herself into the fashion world: She had a spread inVogue Italiaand was a face of the M.A.C Viva Glam campaign and Jeremy Scott's Moschino x H&M collaboration. She even made an appearance at this year's Met Gala alongside Violet Chachki and RuPaul."

In her conversation with Yahoo! Style she said that she always thought drag a career option. "Drag has always felt normalized in my brain and it is something that comes so naturally to me, that I kind of think I've just always seen it as something someone could commit to for their life. That obviously completely glosses over the financial aspect of drag and the whole "needing to pay rent each month" thing, but I don't think those were stressful priorities when I was a kid growing up."

She is also optimistic about the future of the art form. "I think drag is transcending itself. Drag is changing lives. Drag is saving lives. Drag is creating new life. Drag has never had limits and society is just finally really beginning to accept that."

Aquaria acknowledged how blessed her life is, but also noted there can be difficulties that she needs strategies to deal with. "Stress comes out of nowhere and at the end of the day, you've just gotta roll with the punches because you're the only person who will truly care about it. For me, I feel that de-stressing happens more over time rather than with a particular method."

As for her views on life she said, "I'm not sure I have a specific philosophy that comes to mind. I try to do good in the world. I try to be kind and thoughtful. I try to bring joy and be the excitement I wished to see in the world. I try to be the very best like no one ever was. I try to find peace in wherever I end up."

What's next for Aquaria are upcoming personal appearances. She appears on July 22 and 23 at Roscoe's Tavern in Chicago, followed by a date on August 14 at The Manor Complex in Wilton Manors, Florida.
