Cody Simpson Returns to Music with Tracks to Drop on Friday

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

After he narrowly missed making the Aussie Olympic swim team, Cody Simpson is returning to music, reports the Daily Mail.

"The 24-year-old teased new tracks featured on his upcoming release, 'Prince Neptune: Singles & Rarities,' in a series of posts to Instagram on Monday."

In the first, just his torso is on display as he lies in sand with an aqua blue guitar across his crotch. He wears jeans and a white t-shirt that show off his tatted arms. "Back on the axe," reads the accompanying text.

The second features a short video of him on the beach singing a snippet of the unreleased song "Castle Walls," which is featured on the "Prince Neptune: Singles & Rarities" bundle, out August 13th. ."Thank you to all 4 million of you for being part of this journey. The music & the poetry, it's all for you," he writes.

The third returns to the earlier beach photo, this time uncrossed to reveal his head as he relaxes on the beach. "Dropping tracks on Friday."

"Cody's upcoming music release comes as the singer made a failed bid as a swimmer for the Australian team at the Tokyo Olympics earlier this year," adds the Daily Mail. After having missed making the team earlier this summer, Simpson has vowed to ready himself for the Paris Olympics in 2024, but will be focusing on his music in the meantime.

He was also featured in the Amazon Prime docu-series "Head Above Water," which premiered in June and is currently streaming.

And is it time to fill in the blackboard?
