READ TIME: 1 MIN.
HBO announced the surprise summer hit series "The White Lotus" will return next year, but in a different locale and with a different cast. Out writer/director Mike White's six-part series (which completes its first season on August 15), is set at a luxury Hawaiian resort visited by a cross-section of wealthy Americans. Over a week's time, their stories interconnect that culminates in a death alluded to in the first episode, but just which guest it is won't be revealed until Sunday's episode.
"Season 2 checks out of Hawaii and will follow a different group of vacationers as they book their stay at another White Lotus property and settle in temporarily amongst its inhabitants," reports Deadline.
"Mike has once again delivered a quintessential HBO show, and it's the talk of the town, Francesca Orsi, EVP Programming at HBO, told the website. "We were thrilled to hear where he wanted to go next, after closing this epic chapter in Hawaii, and can't wait to keep following him wherever he takes us."
"HBO says'The White Lotus'ranksNo. 1 among all series on HBO Max and has achieved consistent week-over-week growth for both premiere and digital audience, leading into the finale episode," adds Deadline.
While it's a shame that none of the current cast – which features Murray Bartlett,Natasha RothwellConnie Britton, Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Lacy, Brittany O'Grady, Sydney Sweeney. Steve Zahn, Lukas Gage, Fred Hechinger, Kekoa Kekumano and Molly Shannon – will be returning, Twitter quickly speculated who they think should be on Season 2 and where it should be located.
