Fired 'Duck Dynasty' Star Phil Robertson Has 'No Regrets' About His Homophobia

Phil Robertson, made famous by the A&E hit show "Duck Dynasty," has come out of the woods to talk about being one of the first celebrities to be canceled.
Appearing on Fox News, Robertson says he has no regrets for sharing his infamous anti-LGBTQ comments that got him suspended from the show and affected ratings.
But what he is angry about is how he believes the media made a "mockery" of what he said.
If you don't remember, Robertson was asked in a 2013 GQ interview about what he believes is sinful and responded with a direct attack against LGBTQ people.
"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men," said Robertson. Adding an irrational thought, he also shared, "It seems like, to me, a vagina – as a man – would be more desirable than a man's anus," he said, adding that the Bible says in Corinthians that "homosexual offenders ... won't inherit the kingdom of God."
Robertson was suspended from the show then later reinstated without missing a season. But old habits die hard, like, really hard.
In 2015, Robertson said married couples are "not going to get chlamydia, and gonorrhea, and syphilis, and AIDS."
He added, "Either it's the wildest coincidence ever that horrible diseases follow immoral conduct, or, it's God saying, 'There's a penalty for that kind of conduct.' I'm leaning toward there's a penalty toward it."
Revisiting his comments, Robertson said he has "no regrets."
"All I did was quote a Bible verse," he said, not clear about the accuracy of the verse he is referring to. "I quoted a Bible verse that dealt with homosexual behavior. I didn't dream it off the top of my head. It didn't go any further than that."
He added, "And as a result, they tried to cancel me. But it didn't cancel me at all."
"Duck Dynasty" ended in 2017.
