"Rocketman" Sir Elton John was forced to come back down to earth after his private jet suffered hydraulic failure at 10,000-feet, The Sun reported.

"The jet was being buffeted and couldn't land. It was horrible to see," said a witness to the incident.

Everything reportedly started to go wrong one hour into the jet's morning flight overseas to New York. After the aircraft suffered hydraulic failure at 10,000 feet, the pilot was forced to make a U-turn and head back to the UK for an emergency landing.

The singer, 74, was reportedly shaken up by the ordeal and can be seen looking frazzled in photos. Ever dedicated to the phrase "the show must go on," John was seen boarding another flight to the U.S. to make his show at Madison Square Garden.

"It was a white-knuckle ride and Elton was shaken. But he put aside any personal anguish to get back on a plane," the Sun reported from a source. "For Elton, quite literally, the show must go on."
