Has the Madonna Biopic Finally Found its 'Lucky Star?'

After months of competition for the role, the long-brewing Madonna biopic might finally have found its lucky star.

The actor under consideration? "Ozark" and "Inventing Anna" star Julia Garner, according to Variety.

"Garner has emerged the favorite from over a dozen candidates, one insider added, and has for months been speculated as a frontrunner for the part," a source told the entertainment outlet. "Garner's team is considering and expected to accept the offer, said another source."

The casting process has been fierce, with would-be leading ladies reportedly attending a "Madonna boot camp," overseen, in part, by Madge herself. The requirements are no doubt exacting, especially since Madonna is directing the movie.

And directing the project isn't the only way in which the "Vogue" singer is involved; she's also co-writing the screenplay.

If Garner accepts the role, she will "still [be] looking at months' worth of intense training ahead of a potential start date" for filming, according to an earlier article in The Hollywood Reporter.

"You have to be able to do everything," a source told the publication, because the biopic "will require dancing and singing sequences."
