Forget BDE, Do You Have 'Ken-ergy?' Ryan Gosling Does

We all know that Ken, the longtime boyfriend of the iconic Barbie, isn't exactly correct in every anatomical detail. But does that matter as long as he's got "Ken-ergy?" Actor Ryan Gosling weighed in (or did he?), EW reported.

Chatting about his role in the new Netflix thriller "The Gray Man," Gosling compared the two characters – one a "hunted spy character" and the other a flawlessly perfect himbo who will never have to worry about growing a paunch – and reckoned that Ken's got the harder lot in life, Variety noted.

"Ken's got no money, he's got no job, he's got no car, he's got no house," Variety quoted Gosling telling EW. "He's going through some stuff."

But when it comes to the (Intentionally jokey?) moment in which Gosling's "Gray Man'' character is called a "human Ken doll" by co-star Chris Evans, Gosling rose to Ken's defense, telling EW the phrase is "not an insult at all," and boasting about his "Ken-ergy."

"Which he could feel, obviously, when he commented on it," Gosling said of the line Evans hurls at him. "I still feel like the Ken-ergy is alive."

"But aside from being the best kind of pun – cheap – what exactly is 'Ken-ergy?'" EW wondered.

Gosling proved the question is either much deeper than it might seem, or else is utterly meaningless, with his rejoinder: "You've got a Ken in your life. And you know that that Ken has ... Ken-ergy."

Huh?

But Gosling wasn't through.

"Whatever Barbie says is exactly right," he told EW when asked what the film is about. "It's not what you think it is, unless it is," Gosling added of the film's plot, which has been kept a mystery and sealed up more zealously than a 1959 mint-condition first-edition Barbie doll. "And then you know what it is, but I don't think that's what you think it is."

"Wait, what are we talking about?" the actor asked, and honestly, we're wondering the same thing.

"Gosling's tease might support rumors that Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach's 'Barbie' script is a fist-out-of-water comedy in which Margot Robbie's eponymous character and Gosling's Ken find themselves lost in the real world," Variety speculated.

Or perhaps insiders know that the film, which opens just over a year from now, is simply too shinily retro-fabulous for words to express?

Either way, it's OK, Ryan. We all know deep down exactly what Ken-ergy is... and you've got it for sure.
