Brandon Straka Brings Bizarro Cabaret to CPAC (With a Little Help from Marjorie Taylor Greene)

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

"Boo-hoo," mimed out Convicted insurrectionist Brandon Straka in a piece of political performance art at Conservative Political Action Conference, aka CPAC, on Friday.

As Buzz Feed reports, he did so in a mock jail cell wearing an orange jump suit. "Viewers were given headsets that played the courtroom testimony of Jan. 6 insurrectionists."

Freelance journalist Laura Jedeed, who spotted the booth, described it as being like a "silent disco" but "instead of dancing, you stand around and watch this guy cry."

She wrote: "What I need you to understand is that I stood here for about half an hour yesterday and this guy NEVER broke character

"He wept sitting on the bench

"He wept sitting on the floor

"He tallied days on a chalkboard set up for the purpise"

Brandon Straka was convicted on misdemeanour charges after the Jan 6 attack. He admitted shouting, ' Go, go, go,' as the mob stormed the U.S. Capitol.

While BuzzFeed didn't verify it was Straka, only that he had sponsored the exhibit; the Daily Mail did.

And added to the bizarre scenario:

"Then, just when it seemed things couldn't get stranger, rightwing firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene arrived to take things to the next level. She was let into the eight-foot high cage where she kneeled and prayed with the inmate.

Straka, 45, spoke to DailyMail.com at the end of his performance, saying that he wanted to highlight the stress and suffering of people prosecuted for minor crimes on the day of the riot.

"I think I have a lot of pent up pain and anxiety and fear, and it actually has been very kind of cathartic and therapeutic in a way as well," he told the Daily Mail from his make-shift cell.
