Watch: Bad Bunny Shares Kiss with Male Backup Dancer During VMAs

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, otherwise known as Bad Bunny, set the stage on fire at the Aug. 28 VMAs when he literally swung both ways during the same song, first planting a kiss on a female backup dancer and then turning the other way to smooch a male dancer.
The dual snogs were delivered at Yankee Stadium, People Magazine recounted, and took place as the 28-year-old reggaeton singer was performing his hit song "Tití Me Preguntó."
"His performance came immediately after he was named artist of the year, where he was up against Drake, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, Jack Harlow, Lil Nas X and Lizzo," People added. "He made history by being the first non-English-language performer to win the coveted prize."
The equal opportunity smooches were the latest in Bad Bunny's ongoing crusade against "toxic masculinity in the Latinx community," the article went on to say, recalling how the singer and global phenom outlined his attitude toward sex in a 2020 Playboy interview: "Everybody feels, everybody falls in love with whoever they're meant to."
Bad Bunny was even more explicit about his view that sexuality is an innately fluid component of human beings when he told the Los Angeles Times that same year that his sexual orientation "does not define me" and could be subject to change.
"At the end of the day, I don't know if in 20 years I will like a man," the singer noted. "But at the moment I am heterosexual and I like women," the meteorically successful star, who is currently dating Gabriela Berlingeri, added.
Those attitudes have shown up in Bad Bunny's wardrobe choices, People noted, recalling that he dressed in drag for a music video in 2020.
"I really can't give clothes gender" People recalled him telling men's fashion magazine GQ. "To me, a dress is a dress. If I wear a dress, would it stop being a woman's dress? Or vice versa? Like, no. It's a dress, and that's it. It's not a man's, it's not a woman's. It's a dress."
Fellow VMA Artist of the Year nominee Lil Nas X gave the world a jolt in 2021 when, while performing at the BET Awards, he shared a sizzling snog with a male backup dancer, leaning in for a passionate smooch while holding another male dancer close to his side.
Nas X, who is openly gay, "paid homage to Michael Jackson's 'Remember The Time' music video during his Egyptian-themed performance of his single, 'Montero (Call Me by Your Name),'" CNN recounted at the time.
When the song concluded with the impassioned clench, the rapper got "a standing ovation from some members of the audience, including 'Pose' star" Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, CNN said.
