Lea Michele Calls Past Bullying Behavior Claims 'An Edge'

After year's of reports about her less than stellar behavior behind the scenes, Lea Michele is opening up about how her pursuit of "perfectionism" has left her with "a lot of blind spots."
In an interview with the New York Times, Michele said "I have an edge to me," as an explanation of her behavior. "I work really hard. I leave no room for mistakes," she said.
Michele is finally set to make her debut as Fanny Brice in Broadway's "Funny Girl" on Sept. 6, a role she has coveted for some time. But she will not be eligible to win a Tony, only Beanie Feldstein was (and she wasn't nominated).
"You might think that's the biggest piece of bull that I'm going to say to you all day," said Michele. "But I really don't care about that at this point. It's just about being able to play this part."
In true perfectionist faction, she is focused on bringing her A-game to the show.
"Everyone here has been through a lot, and I just have to come in and be prepared and do a good job and be respectful of the fact that this is their space," Michele said.
And the woman knows how to read a room ... and read in case you believed any of those pesky rumors that she couldn't.
"I went to Glee every single day; I knew my lines every single day," said Michele. "And then there's a rumor online that I can't read or write? It's sad. It really is. I think often if I were a man, a lot of this wouldn't be the case."
See Michele in Broadway's "Funny Girl" starting Tuesday, Sept. 6.
