READ TIME: 3 MIN.
Trans activist and TikTok personality Dylan Mulvaney visited Joe Biden in the White House Thursday.
Mulvaney, who documents her "firsts" as a woman in a TikTok series she calls "Days of Girlhood," revealed that she and members of NowThis News were visiting the White House for an interview that will be made public on Sunday.
On Instagram, she posted a video of them before and after meeting the president. In what appears to be a hotel room, Mulvaney says: "It's day 222 of Being a Girl. I'm in Washington, DC and I'm going to the White House to speak to the President of the United States!!! Well, you know, that phrase, I fear I may have flown too close to the sun. Well, that's how I feel today because I get to sit down with Joe Biden. And NowThis News and I get to ask him a few questions surrounding trans issues in the United States and talk to him about my transness and I really just want to represent my community the best that I can.
"And you know what, as silly as I am on here, I'm ready to step up and show that trans people are not going anywhere," she adds. "And that trans kids, they deserve a fighting chance to be their true selves."
But before leaving, she showed what they were wearing: "Here you go. It's the trans flag colors here," as she modeled her white top and cape, accented with a pink kerchief, pale blue slacks and white platforms. "Right. So heels. Okay."
Outside the White House, she asks, "Do you think I just knock on the front door?"
Once inside she pets the President's dog and bows to a portrait of Michelle Obama. Upon leaving when she says she's "leaving on cloud nine," as she held a wrapped cookie with a gold seal in front of the camera. "The President of the United States gave me a cookie in the Oval Office. Now here's the question, do I eat it or do I save it as a seal? Please honestly, tell me, everyone..."
She added: "I'm still in shock and, don't be mad, but I don't get to post any of the footage until after the interview airs on Sunday night, but it's gonna be worth it because I can't wait for you to hear everything that we talked about. I left with a lot of hope and optimism not only for just trans people, but many different topics. And the fact that our president has watched "Days Of Girlhood." It's kind of epic."
She then got personal: "I'm not gonna lie I have been. I've been having a rough go of it lately. A lot of darkness and and today was what I needed to keep going. Also, if you live in the US and can legally vote this is going to be one of the most important elections of our lifetimes. so please get out and vote next month. There is so much darkness in this world. I mean, sometimes that that actually outweighs the good. but we have to get in the mud right now. and we're going to clean up some messes that have needed cleaning for hundreds of years. and we've got to protect each other, and I have your back and I really hope you have mine, and I love you. God bless America. Oh say can you,.. love ya!"
