Out actor Jonathan Bennett answered some questions about his marriage to fellow actor Jaymes Vaughan and his starring role in the Hallmark Channel's first gay holiday movie.

Appearing on People Magazine's "Screen Time," Bennett talked about "The Christmas Sitter," which premieres on The Hallmark Channel Dec. 11. The film was described as starring "Hallmark's first leading LGBTQ+ couple," in which Bennett plays "Sam, a forever-bachelor type who gets pulled into some last-minute babysitting/uncle duties" opposite love interest George Krissa, who plays the hot guy next door. Love follows in short order.

Asked for five reasons to tune in to "The Holiday Sitter," Bennett started with, "The movie's hilarious! There are so many scenes and moments in this movie that will make you laugh out loud."

Other reasons: "The heart," Bennett added, before moving on to another major talking point: "It's an LGBTQ+ rom-com," a reason he ranked next to "It's a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. There's nothing better to do at the holidays than watch Hallmark Channel Christmas movies."

Bennett ought to know: He and Brad Harder burned up the screen in another Hallmark Channel Christmas movie that featured a gay couple, though not in a leading capacity: 2020's "The Christmas House."

Bennett and Vaughan host an annual New Year's Eve special. Bennett recalled some of the wildest NYE moments he and his husband have witnessed – including seeing a couple propose during the celebration and, in 2020, seeing J. Lo perform to a Times Square that was devoid of revelers thanks to the COVID lockdown. "We were standing on a riser about ten feet from J. Lo as she performed a full show, with all of her dancers and everyone, and it was like a private concert for ourselves."

Other questions Bennett entertained was why he fell in love with and married Vaughan, and what the couple like to do on a date night. The two, who tied the knot earlier this year at a resort hotel in Mexico, keep busy with their acting careers as well as running Outbound, the gay travel company they founded together. With all that going on, "a perfect date night is just, like, staying at home with the dog and laying on the couch and not having to do anything for once," Bennett shared.

As for why he fell in love with Vaughan in the first place, Bennett, noting that he is "an only child and an actor" and saying that he is "very needy," described his husband as the ideal mate for someone like himself: "He treats me so well and takes such good care of me and makes me feel so safe," the "Mean Girls" star said.

"And also," Bennett added, "he's gorgeous and has the best butt in the world."
