With Diamond Ring Pic, Did Cher Just Announce Engagement?

Cher's Christmas Day tweet of a diamond ring being held by record producer A.E. Edwards, with whom the superstar singer has been romantically linked, has Twitter wondering if wedding bells are ringing.

The "photo showed Edwards holding a black velvet ring box, with the icy bauble catching the light in the sparkliest of ways," CNN reported. The hand holding the box is presumed to be that of Edwards due to the elaborately painted nails, "which were done up with a bonkers green-and-black fire manicure," CNN added. The photo's caption also identified the 36-year-old producer by name, reading, "THERE ARE NO WORDS, ALEXANDER, A.E."

"I posted this cause his nails are so cool," Cher posted in a subsequent tweet.

Twitter users posted a gamut of responses from the joyfully supportive to the skeptical.

"The pair were first spotted together two months ago, seen holding hands at the famous Hollywood restaurant Craig's before returning to Cher's home, and have been seen going on several dates ever since," EDGE reported last month.

Cher posted a thirst trap photo of Edwards in November that showed him wearing nothing but his undershorts and a grin.

Haters pounced at the time, but the "Turn Back Time" singer was unfazed. "We're Grown ups," she clapped back. Later on, Cher posted another tweet that noted the relationship, with its 40-year age difference, "Looks strange (Even 2 ME)," but added, "A.E Says ♥️Doesn't Know Math".

An earlier tweet from Cher showed a snap of the younger man with the simple caption "Alexander♥️". One concerned fan responded at the time with, "I've been a fan for so long that I'm immediately suspicious of his intentions towards you. WE know you are fabulous and I'm sure your inner circle will continue to have your back. Want you to be happy, but not taken advantage of!!!"
