Watch: Ariana DeBose Breaks Silence on BAFTAs Rap, Shouts Out Gay Twitter

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Nearly a week later, Ariana DeBose is addressing her Internet-breaking BAFTAs performance, which has gone on to be one of the most viral moments of the year so far and has also garnered so much backlash that the queer star deleted her Twitter account.

Speaking with BBC Radio 2's Zoe Ball on her "Breakfast Show" program Saturday, the "West Side Story" Oscar winner said she "had a blast" and that her aim was to celebrate women – fans will never forget her delivery of "Angela Bassett did the thing / Viola Davis, my woman king." DeBose even said that "Elvis" director Ban Luhrmann lauded her performance, calling it "fun."

"That's a win, you guys!" she added.

DeBose also gave a shout out to Gay Twitter, who was quick to memeify and celebrate the performer, celebrating it as camp.

"And apparently Gay Twitter seemed to like it," she told Ball. "So that's good. I'll take it."

"I Know, and we will always take the opinion of Gay Twitter every single time," Ball said.

"One hundred percent. I told you, my people!" DeBose added.
