A24 Pop Music Epic 'Mother Mary' Starring Michaela Coel, Anne Hathaway with Music by Charli XCX on the Way

After cleaning up at the Academy Awards in nearly every category for its hit "Everything Everywhere All At Once," A24 is following up with what is sure to be another epic film, starring Michaela Coel and Anne Hathaway.

As reported by Deadline, Coel and Hathaway will star in "Mother Mary," an epic pop melodrama following a fictional musician played by the former and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer played by the latter.

The script is penned by "Green Knight" director David Lowery, who is also attached to direct. A24 is co-financing the project with Topic Studios, Deadline said.

But what will really be impressive is the soundtrack for the film, which reportedly has Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX attached to write and produce original songs for the film, with an original score composed by Daniel Hart.

"This marks the third collaboration between A24 and Lowery following 'The Green Knight' and 'A Ghost Story,'" Deadline said. "A24 will handle the global release of the film."

"Mother Mary" is planned to be filmed in Germany, funded by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the DFFF," according to Deadline.
