The Products that 'Clyde's' Cyndii Johnson Can't Perform Without

Christopher Ehlers READ TIME: 9 MIN.

"Clyde's," the hit Lynn Nottage play that earned a 2022 Tony Nomination for Best Play, is currently burning up The Huntington stage in a co-production with Berkeley Repertory Theatre.

Cyndii Johnson, who has appeared on Broadway in "Trouble in Mind" and Off Broadway in "What to Send Up When It Goes Down," plays Letitia, a formerly incarcerated young mother who works at a truck-stop sandwich shop while attempting to rebuild her life.

"Being a professional actor has been a dream come true. I started going to a performing arts school in the 6th grade, and the acting bug hasn't left me since. Although I love it, being the CEO of your own business, the constant travel, and all that comes with it can be a bit stressful. All of that, plus the toll being an artist can have on your pockets – I try to be very intentional with my purchases. I love supporting fellow artists and local producers of the cities that I travel to work in. Here are my must-have items."

"Another passion of mine is herbalism. During the pandemic I took an herbalism course that really inspired and equipped me with the knowledge of how I can work with herbs to support me, especially during a show. It can be hard to wind down after an evening performance. The Time for Slumber essential oil blend from Infinitea is great for putting on my wrists, neck, and temples post show. Infinitea is also owned by a fellow black actress, Camille Upshaw." $10, Infinitea.
