Watch: Jojo Siwa Takes on Candace Owens' 'Not a Lesbian' Claim

Right-wing pundit Candace Owens turned her rhetoric onto Jojo Siwa, claiming the 19-year-old entertainer isn't really a lesbian but is "desperate for attention". Siwa lost no time firing back.

Owens, 33, leveled the charge of lying about being part of the LGTBQ+ community at Siwa on her podcast, BuzzFeed reports.

"I don't believe JoJo Siwa is a lesbian, by the way," Owens tossed out. "I wanna state that very clearly. I do believe she's desperate for attention."

Owens – who Wikipedia notes "has been criticized for promoting conspiracy theories" – attempted to cobble together an unlikely-sounding narrative about the teen celebrity's romantic life, taking aim at Siwa's "gay awakening" post at TikTok last October.

Owens dismissed the six-month-old post as "One plus one plus one must equal 'I'm a lesbo,' " referring to Siwa's account of not wanting to have sex with a man, but being obsessed with Jenna Dewan's "Magic Mike number" from "Lip Sync Battle."

"The idea here is that she suddenly realized she's a lesbian because she had a bad date and liked the way Jenna Dewan danced," Owen scoffed.

Siwa's account jibes perfectly for anyone who happens to be gay or lesbian and remembers not being into the idea of romance with someone of the opposite sex but, rather, having to sort through feelings of attraction for other people of the same gender in order to arrive at an understanding of their own innate nature.

To Owens, though, Siwa's testimony about her own experiences "makes absolutely no sense whatsoever."

From there, Owen vaulted to her conclusion: "It's very clear to me she did that video for attention. She got attention because it's a great way to find a community of victims."

Siwa – who has publicly posted about her relationships with women, and who recently offered another account of her inner life in a video that described how Disney World has been a backdrop for her romantic coming of age – was far from flustered at Owens' bizarre attack, taking to Twitter to offer Owens an unvarnished response.

Siwa's fans filled her post's comments area with supportive reactions.

Owens has regularly hurled controversial rhetoric, including targeting Harry Styles for his fashion choices and taking up the slanderous right-wing narrative that the LGBTQ+ community is rife with child-grooming sexual predators.
