Who is Donovan Michaels? And Is He David Geffen's Husband?
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
David Geffen was said to have married physical trainer and model Donovan Michaels in March, though there has been no official confirmation.
As of last Thursday, Forbes reports Geffen is worth $7.7 billion.
But who is Donovan Michaels?
EDGE reported last month that Michaels describes himself as a media personality based out of New York City. During his adult career, he appeared "in three scenes at Randy Blue in 2014 and 2015, first in a solo jerk off video and then as a powertop in two hardcore videos," writes Str8UpGayPorn. Randy Blue's website reported at the time that Brandon Foster was a "straight hunk" and also a "straight stud".
A profile of him in the New York Post calls him "a former go-go dancer with a murky past who has changed his name a number of times."
Sources told The Post that Michaels came from "very humble beginnings" and was one of 13 children in a family from Imlay City, Michigan, a town of just 4,000 people.
A former friend recalled how Michaels was "super secretive" and rarely divulged his history.
Angela Armstrong, one of Michaels' sisters, would not confirm – nor deny – reports of the pair's nuptials when contacted by The Post.
But one of Michaels' friends, who asked to remain anonymous, told The Post the former fitness trainer "was always looking for his next adventure and was really determined to improve his life."
When the couple came to New York recently, a gold band was spotted on Geffen's finger, but it is unclear if Michaels was wearing one. Their marriage last month was attended by just four guests.
According to the Post, he was born "David Armstrong in Michigan, he started going by Brandon Foster around the time he moved to Florida in 2014 and began dancing and promoting parties at Miami's gay clubs... Michaels left Florida around 2016 or 2017 for the New York City modeling scene, around which time he also adopted his current name."
A former girlfriend claims that "she only knew Michaels to date women," but wasn't surprised by the marriage. "I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, he's very attractive," the woman, who did want to be identified, told the Post. "He would tell me people just assumed that he was into guys from what he posts on Instagram. I know that he was getting comments like that from gay men, that he was really attractive and in really good shape."
Another friend, who also wanted to remain anonymous, told the Post: "It took a while to really get to know him because he was really private about his past," said the friend, who wanted to remain anonymous.
That source further described Michaels as "always searching for something to help him understand his past and what he experienced."
"I think he rebelled a lot when he was younger, and that was a big part of why he left," the friend went on.
