This piece is part of EDGE's 2023 Rewind series. We're reaching into our archives and sharing some of our favorite stories from the past year.

Pete Davidson released a trailer of a new series "Bupkis, "which debuts on Peacock on May 4, that is said to be based on his own life. Billboard writes it was also announced the former "Saturday Night Live" regular is returning to the show as host on May 6.

Variety writes that in "its half-hour episodes, 'Bupkis' shows Davidson's life in a heightened, fictionalized manner. Combining grounded storytelling with unfiltered and absurd elements, the eight-episode show will depict Davidson's unique worldview."

Variety continues: "The trailer opens with quick clips of tabloid headlines about Davidson and with him saying, 'I googled myself yesterday. People think I'm, like, a joke for some reason.'"

One ongoing meme (or joke, if you prefer) deals with Davidson's penis size. He was first labeled with BDE (Big Dick Energy) when his ex-fiancée singer Ariana Grande "was asked how long her song, 'Pete Davidson,' was. And she answered, '10 inches," according to ET.

But in an interview with with Charlamagne the God on Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM, Davidson attempted to diminish the rumor, ET adds.

"I don't understand. It's really not that special," Davidson said. "It's a very normal-sized penis. It's not too big or too small. Yeah, I don't understand that."

ET continues: "Davidson -- who has dated a number of celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, Kaia Gerber, and Kate Beckinsale -- added that the feedback he's received doesn't exactly align with the big d**k energy (BDE) label he's landed."

"It's big enough to enjoy and not big enough to hurt, is what I was told," Davidson said, laughing.

The meme has even found its way onto "Bupkis."

"You've got that big d**k right? Like p***y Thanos," Ray Romano's character tells Davidson on the show.

"As for the term itself, while Davidson made BDE famous, the phallic phrase was originally coined by writer Kyrell Grant as a tribute to the late Anthony Bourdain," according to The Guardian.
