Online Trolls No Match for Madonna, Says Rosie O'Donnell

Online criticism over Madonna's look won't wilt the Material Girl, out comic Rosie O'Donnell promises. Page Six reports that O'Donnell, in comments to the tabloid, looked back a few years to when the two of them worked on a film and the "Lucky Star" singer would be subjected to unwelcome comments about her appearance.
"I remember we were doing 'A League of Their Own' and she had brown hair and we would be in an elevator and grown men, you know, would say to her, 'I like you better as a blond,' " the 61-year-old comedian recalled. "And she would look at them and go, 'You know, fuck you.' And I thought, good for her, man, good for you."
O'Donnell went on to comment that Madonna "knows who she is, what she wants, what she wants to look like, what she wants to wear, what she wants to say. And I think she's strong enough to weather whatever complaints people have about her now and for always."
To be sure, Madonna's reaction to comments in the press, as well as online, about her appearance at the Grammys a few months ago showed that the "Like a Prayer" singer remains unbowed.
As EDGE reported at the time, Madge's new look sparked comment and speculation about what sort of poor plastic surgery she might have had done. Plastic surgeons lent their professional opinions, remarking on the smoothness of her face and changes to her hairline and the shape of her nose, and trolls pounced with an array of unflattering memes.
But Madge didn't take it lying down. Posting to Instagram on Feb. 7, she gave a shout out to Kim Petras, who, with Sam Smith, won a Grammy for best pop duo/group performance - the seventh Grammy for Smith, who is non-binary, and Petras' first Grammy - as well as the first time an openly transgender recording artist took the award in that category.
Then Madonna got down to business.
"Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in," the "Like a Virgin" singer posted. "A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous."
Going on to declare that she has "never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress," Madge gave notice that "I'm not going to start," and declared, "I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come."
Added the global superstar: "I look forward to many more years of subversive behavior -pushing boundaries-Standing up to the patriarchy -and Most of all enjoying my life."
Summing up, the Queen of Pop commanded: "Bow down bitches! ππΌπͺ©π€ππΌπ "
