Ready for a Witchy Threesome? Disney Developing 'Hocus Pocus 3'

The 29-year gap between "Hocus Pocus" and last fall's "Hocus Pocus 2" felt like centuries, but Disney won't make fans wait as long for the next chapter in the Sanderson Sisters story. Variety reported that the studio has a third movie in the works.

Details are scant, but, Variety noted, "In a profile with The New York Times, Bailey stated that 'Yes, 'Hocus Pocus 3' is happening' when discussing additional upcoming live-action projects in development at the company."

Bette Midler led the all-star coven, which also included Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy, in both features. As in the original, the three wicked sisters were brought back to life by accident for the 2022 sequel when teenagers enacted a magical ceremony.

Something the sequel was missing? The original movie's heros, Max (Omri Katz) and Allison (Vinessa Shaw). The third installment might bring them back into the fold, however.

"We tried so hard to get the original cast back for cameos and then it just kept not working out for one reason or the other," Jen D'Angelo, who wrote the sequel along with David Kirschner and Blake Harris, told the entertainment news outlet (Kirschner is also credited with the story for the original movie, which was written by Mick Garris and Neil Cuthbert). "But I'm hoping in 'Hocus Pocus 3,' we'll see Max and Alison living in California."
