"Wizards of Waverly Place" star Dan Benson leaned into his unwillingly erotic online presence with a career as an OnlyFans content creator. One year later, he says it's "empowered" him.

Benson explained why in a "mental health check in" video he posted to TikTok to mark a year of making adult content, Page Six reported.

"I've been doing adult entertainment for about a year now," the 35-year-old actor said in the clip. "My first reaction is, uh, confusion," he added, "because I expected a lot more hate" from fans for going into porn full-on.

But that just hasn't been the case. Benson said that rather than excoriating him, "people have just been like, 'Go you!' empowerment, which is awesome."

Page Six recalled that Benson starred on the wholesome series on the Disney Channel for five seasons, from 2007 through 2012, "alongside names such as Selena Gomez and Cole Sprouse."

"Mental health wise, I feel good," Benson went on to say. "I don't feel bad about myself." In fact, he continued, "I feel kind of like a badass a little bit," adding that although sometimes people ask him to do things on the platform that he'd be uncomfortable doing, he's found that he's the one in control of what he offers.

"I've kind of just been in a position to be, like, 'No. You're gonna get what you're gonna get. You're gonna get what I'm comfortable with sharing with the world, which now is quite a bit.

"So anyway, I'm feeling good," the actor summarized. "I'm excited about the future, and I don't really feel bad about my decisions at all."

Benson, who is straight, inadvertently became an erotic online sensation when he was catfished and nude photos he shared ended up being posted across the internet, BuzzFeed recalled.

"After years of trying to get them taken down and losing out on job opportunities, Dan decided to turn the negative into a positive – and stop letting the people control him," BuzzFeed detailed.

"I decided to stop fighting against it and instead, go the other direction and completely lean into it," the site quoted Benson as saying, "and build out a page instead of letting these people sell my privacy."

That attitude has brought him here: To a place where he's in the driver's seat and calling the shots. Have a look at some of the confident, sexy looks he's shared on Instagram:
