There's a big story line coming to season 4 of "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series," which will see the original "High School Musical" cast return to East High to shoot a fourth film for the franchise.

And a new trailer reveals that audiences will finally get confirmation on what letter in the LGBTQ+ community Ryan Evans identifies with. A song titled "High School Reunion," reveals the revelatory moment, and Ryan takes to the stage alongside fellow Wildcats like Chad, Taylor and Martha, as they send off Ms Darbus on retirement.

Then a huge moment comes with Ryan and a partner locking lips, with the male partner adding: "This means so much to me."

Reprising his role as Ryan, Lucas Grabeel previously opened up about his character's ambiguity, telling TVLine four years ago: "People have always asked me if Ryan was gay."

He added, "I've seen a lot of performances from the tours or high schools or community theaters, and they always take Ryan to that place of being way over the top. That's fine, but that's not exactly the way I played it."

The show returns to Disney+ on Aug. 9, and we can't wait.

"I wanted people to think, 'That character's more complex than I thought,' instead of saying, 'Oh, he comes out in pink and you know he's gay,'" said Grabeel.
