Pop music icon Charli XCX gave a shoutout to her "gays in the writers room" of long-running British primetime soap "EastEnders" naming a new arrival in her honor.
The 31-year-old "Boys" singer – who was born in Cambridge, England, and grew up in the Essex town of Start Hill – took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reshare a viral clip from the Sept. 4 episode that introduced the baby and explained her name.
"shout out my gays in the writers room!" the singer captioned the retweet.
"Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) gives birth to her first child with Ricky Mitchell (Frankie Day)," UK newspaper The Independent explained. "In hospital, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) asks the baby's name, only for Ricky to tell her they have named their daughter Charli after the hyper-pop singer."
Stacey at first thinks the couple have named their baby after an uncle who died several years ago, only to be informed that it's Charli XCX – not "Uncle Charlie" – for whom the infant is named.
