Watch: With a Lie Detector, Jonathan Groff Says this Gets Him Wet

Emell Adolphus READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Jonathan Groff is starring alongside his "old friends" Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez in the Stephen Sondheim musical revival "Merrily We Roll Along" on Broadway. So naturally it made sense for them all to sit down test their knowledge of each other, theater, and pop culture.

For an interview with Vanity Fair, all three of them were hooked up to a lie detector to answer some truly hilarious questions.

Radcliffe was asked if he approved of Groff's English accent in "Hamilton." Mendez was quizzed on whether she considers Pedro Pascal to be a hot "daddy. And Groff got candid about what makes him wet.

To explain, the topic turned to Groff's singing, and Mendez asked if he spits so much because he wants people to know how hard he is singing.

"No," Groff answered.

Mendez then asked, "How many times do you think you've spit on us during the production of 'Merrily We Roll Along'?"

"A lot," said Groff.

Then Mendez countered with, "What's your secret to staying so hydrated?"

And Groff began to answer with, "I get wet when I ..."

To which Radcliffe and Mendez encouraged him not to finish that sentence. The rest is comedy gold, and will have you spitting with laughter.

After starring in the 2022 production of "Merrily We Roll Along," Groff, Radcliffe, Mendez are all back in their familiar roles for the revival. Radcliffe stars as Charley Kringas, Groff as Franklin Shepard, Mendez as Mary Flynn, featuring Krystal Joy Brown as Gussie Carnegie, Katie Rose Clarke as Beth Shepard, and Reg Rogers as Joe Josephson.

"Merrily We Roll Along" runs until March 24, 2024. Watch the stars of the show crack up below.
