Watch: Netflix Drops Sizzling 'First Look' Teaser for Final Season of 'Young Royals'
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Hot on the heels of the new trailer for Season 7 of "Elite," Netflix released a "First Look" teaser for the third and final season of another show about privileged students at an elite school who have complicated love lives: the Swedish gay drama "Young Royals," which centers around a prince and his boyfriend.
LGBTQ+ culture site "them" summarized the story thus far: "Young Royals follows the rollercoaster of a will-they-won't-they romance between Prince Wilhelm of Sweden and classmate Simon Eriksson, both of whom attend the boarding school Hillerska."
"Season one ends with Wilhelm confessing his love to Simon in the midst of a leaked sex tape scandal," them added, going on to say that the second season finds the young men "in conflict," but finally "ends with the pair reconciling at long last, with Wilhelm publicly declaring his love for Simon."
The Season 3 teaser consists of a short scene that shows the two meeting up at Wilhelm's home, apparently with some sort of official function about to happen. The young men steal away for a private moment after Simon tells Wilhelm he wishes their reunion "wasn't for this reason," and Wilhelm replies with the leading remark, "This isn't how I dreamed for it to be."
Offering to show Simon what he had in mind for a happier meeting, Wilhelm begins to escort Simon to another room, when Simon frets that they will be missed.
"They won't start without us, Simon," Wilhelm reassures him. "Come here."
"It's not clear what has happened leading up to this scene," them said, "but regardless, the idea of delaying some kind of seemingly urgent meeting to fool around with your boyfriend is iconic and extremely gay."
It's probable that there will be one or two trailers to shed more light on what's going on between now and the show's return to Netflix with new episodes next year.
For now, we can enjoy the titillating moment for what it is. Watch the teaser below.
