Catch a Glimpse of Out 'All of Us Strangers' Actor Andrew Scott in Upcoming 'Ripley' Miniseries
Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 4 MIN.
"Tom Ripley (Scott), a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York, is hired by a wealthy man to travel to Italy to try to convince his vagabond son Dickie Greenleaf (Johnny Flynn) to return home," the description on Netflix details.
"Tom's acceptance of the job is the first step into a complex life of deceit, fraud and murder."
The eight-episode series will take Ripley to the lush surrounds of post-war Italy, where he will mingle with a group of wealthy Americans – including Dickie Greenleaf's girlfriend, Marge (played by Dakota Fanning), who knows something is amiss with the charming Mr. Ripley.
The Netflix description indicates that the series might not draw solely from Highsmith's first novel to depict the chameleonic con artist, who has been a gay icon ever since he was introduced in Highsmith's 1955 novel "The Talented Mr. Ripley."
Following his inaugural appearance, the character was at the center of four sequels, all penned by Highsmith.
Netflix has not specified when the series will stream, stating only that it will debut some time next year.
