Non-binary English singer Sam Smith has reportedly split from their boyfriend of one year, Christian Cowan, and is now looking for a fresh start in 2024, UK newspaper the Daily Mail reported.
"The five-time Grammy Award winner was first linked to fashion designer Christian, 27, in January 2023 and the couple have been spotted together in London, New York and Paris," the Mail said. "It was Sam's first public relationship since their split from '13 Reasons Why' actor Brandon Flynn, 30, and after they came out as non-binary in 2019."
The article also recalled that the former couple "met when the clothing designer collaborated with Sam on the costumes for their music video, 'I'm Not Here to Make Friends.'"
Added the Mail: "Christian, whose clientele includes A-list stars Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Cardi B and Heidi Klum, confirmed his romance with Sam with a kiss in January 2023 as the two walked together arm-in-arm in New York."
But a year later, that relationship has run its course, the Mail article said. "Sam and Christian were last pictured together on December 14 at a New York party but have since parted ways, with the singer keen to meet someone in the New Year."
Smith's new search for love has commenced on Raya, a dating and networking app used by high-profile people, the newspaper detailed. The app is reportedly "membership based" and users are subject to an application and approval process.
According to an unnamed source that spoke with the Mail, "Sam and Christian decided to end their relationship before Christmas."
"They're still friends and will continue to support each other in their respective careers," the source added, "but for now they have separated."
The source told the Daily Mail that Smith has "signed back up to dating app Raya and is already connecting with new people," going on to put an upbeat spin on things with: "it's a new year and fresh start for them."
