Watch: 'All of Us Strangers' Star Andrew Scott Asked Bizarre Questions on BAFTA Red Carpet

When Andrew Scott was on the red carpet at the BAFTAS (the British Academy Awards) on Sunday, he was questioned by a BBC reporter. No, it wasn't about his chemistry he had with Paul Mescal in the multi-nominated "All of Us Strangers," or if the film's success is an indication of a more inclusive movie audience.

It was about a different, much-nominated movie and its controversial final sequence.

"Social media has been dominated by this shocking moment on the red carpet, when the BBC's Colin Paterson chose not to ask Andrew Scott about the film he was in, but instead asked about Barry Keogh's (sic) now notorious nude dance at the end of 'Saltburn,'" reports the website The Poke.

"Colin Paterson, an entertainment correspondent and red carpet veteran, opened the interview by asking if Scott knew Barry Keoghan, who was up for best actor at that night's ceremony for his performance in 'Saltburn'," reports the Daily Beast.

Paterson then asked: "Okay, your reaction when you first saw the naked dance scene at the end of 'Saltburn'?"

An uncomfortable Scott responded as diplomatically as possible to the question.

"Okay, well listen, I won't spoil it for anybody. It's great. It's great."

"You can spoil away," Paterson instructed, hammering away.

"I won't spoil it for anybody," responded the uncomfortable Scott.

Still, Paterson continued:

"There is a lot of talk about prosthetics. How well do you know him? Too much? Too much?"

Spoiler alert: in the final scene of Emerald Fennell's dark comedy, Keoghan dances naked through many rooms of the film's titular mansion to Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 2001 hit "Murder on the Dance Floor." Keoghan is largely shot from behind, though he does expose his front side on occasion, which has led to speculation if prosthetics were used or not.

Was Paterson's line of question to get a gay actor to comment on the genitals of another actor? And did his final question allude to some sort of more intimate relationship between the actors?

But the bigger question such an exchange asks is, would a reporter have asked the question to a straight actor on the red carpet, such as his "All of Us Strangers" co-star Paul Mescal?

Scott,who became an overnight sensation on "Fleabag," came out in 2013 in an interview with The Independent, but it wasn't until "Fleabag's" success five years later did it become more widely known that he was out. Scott played a hunky priest on the show.

On social media a biting response critical of the BBC reporter came fast and furious.

The Daily Beast adds that Callum Scott Howells, an actor who was nominated for a BAFTA in 2022 for his turn in queer historical series It's a Sin, retweeted the video and added, "who the f*ck have they dragged off the street to interview andrew scott and why is he my mate's drunk dad at a party."
