The first openly gay men's soccer player is officially off the market and has found a teammate for life. That's right, Australian cutie Josh Cavallo, 24, is engaged to his fiancé, Leighton Morrell.
Cavallo announced the life event on Instagram and revealed that it was he who popped the question, captioning the post with, "Starting this year with my fiancé."
In a photo, Cavallo can be seen kneeling on one knee on the field at Coopers Stadium, where his soccer team Adelaide United plays. In a second shot, Morrell is looking ecstatic.
"Mr. & Mr. Coming soon 🤍," Cavallo wrote. Additionally, Cavallo thanked Adelaide United for "helping set up this surprise." He added that the club's "endless support has meant so much" to him.
"You have provided a safe space in football, one that I never in my dreams thought could ever be possible, and encouraged me to live everyday of my life authentically," wrote Cavallo. "It felt right to share this special moment on the pitch, where it all started."
Aww, congratulations to the happy couple.
Morell is an electrician who has been making sparks fly with Cavallo.
