Rapper Yung Miami has curated a capsule collection that targets one of her key audiences: The gays.
As reported by HotNewHipHop.com, the rapper is selling T-shirts featuring the phrase, "The Gays," and she will be giving the proceeds from the sales to GLAAD to support LGBTQ+ programming.
The rapper attended the GLAAD Awards in New York City last week, and she took to Instagram to share a teaser of the collection on Monday.
"Surprise drop this Friday May 17th in celebration of Pride month coming this June! This one is for THE GAYS a portion of the proceeds will be donated to @glaad for LGBTQ programming," she wrote.
In an official statement, Miami said she wanted to do something for the gays in celebration of Pride Month.
"Oftentimes, I feel they're left out so I wanted to celebrate and dedicate this collection to them to make sure they feel seen and heard," said Miami in the statement.
But some fans aren't convinced over of the sincereness of the gesture, and pointed to 2018 tweets from Miami in which she rejected the idea of having a gay son.
However, she has since apologized for the tweets, saying, "My deepest apologies and heart goes out to those who have that tweet and were offended by that. The City Girls appreciate all of their support no matter what their sexuality is."
And now Miami has released a capsule collection to further show she is an ally. So we guess the only question to ask is, are the gays buying it?
