Out pop music icon Elton John has given the definitive answer as to whether he intends ever to tour again: It's a resounding "No," with the 77-year-old dad looking forward to spending time at home.
People Magazine relayed that John told Entertainment Tonight in a recently published interview that he's said goodbye to the road, yellow brick and all, and he's now cleaning out his closet for charity.
Husband David Furnish further explained that the superstar, who has been a force in pop music for more than half a century, is now devoted to being present for their two sons, Zachary and Elijah, as the 13-year-old elder son and his 11-year-old younger brother enter their teenage years.
"We don't want to miss anything," Furnish said, before adding: "It's sort of a key decade, I think, in a child's life."
Furnish added that John had "been doing it for 60 years," and giving up touring meant that he could "have that time to spend at home with family."
"The 'Tiny Dancer' singer's final world tour, Farewell Yellow Brick Road, began on Sept. 10, 2018 in North America before finishing on July 8, 2023 in Sweden," People Mag recalled.
John recently threw open his closet door for one of his "Rocket Man Resale" events, sharing his glamorous wardrobe with fans and helping support the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
"I always think, 'You know what? Let's sell the clothes to people who would really like them and appreciate them,'" John told ET. "And the money goes to the Elton John AIDS foundation, what could be better?"
"'Rocket Man Resale' gives collectors and fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a piece of fashion history with hundreds of items from Elton's closet," ET explained, "including bespoke Gucci jackets, Versace robes, customized Prada loafers, as well as affordable items such as historic concert T-shirts and baseball caps."
John let slip a secret about his fabulous clothing collection: "Most of this stuff hasn't been worn," he told ET.
The bidding for items from Elton John's wardrobe continues until July 7.
