Out German pop star Daniel Kaiser-Kblbck, 33, has vanished from cruise ship AIDAuna, the BBC reports, and another passenger purporting to be a witness claims that Kblbck threw himself into the sea from a fifth-story balcony on the morning of Sept. 9. The ship was reportedly 125 nautical miles off Newfoundland at the time.
Kblbck appeared on "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" ("Germany Seeks the Superstar"), a German talent program similar to "American Idol," in 2003, the BBC recalled. The article also said that the search for the missing man continues, but that the cruise ship has now resumed its voyage. A statement from Canadian authorities referenced "the short survivability time" of a person in the frigid waters off Newfoundland.
Seatrade Cruise News ran the story two days earlier than the BBC. The Seatrade Cruise News article noted that Kblbck was "traveling privately" on the cruise ship.
After his stint on "Deutschland sucht den Superstar," Kblbck made appearances on other reality and talent programs such a "Big Brother" and "Let's Dance."
British newspaper The Sun reported that in the weeks before he allegedly leaped from the ship, Kblbck posted at Facebook about having survived "months of bullying" while still a schoolboy. "I have yet to cope with this pain," Kblbck wrote in the post.
