Police in Sydney, Australia, say they are looking for a man whose arrival at – and then departure from – an apartment building that became the scene of a serious incident on the afternoon of Nov. 11 was recorded by security cameras, reports newspaper The Australian.

Security video shows the man, who is dark-haired and slim, both entering and leaving the apartment building where he apparently spent several hours with a resident, who authorities believe he met on Grinder. The resident of the building, reports said, suffered a three-story fall from a balcony and is in hospital. The injured man is in critical condition with injuries to his spine and head. He also speared his leg on a table, reports said.

Police said that the injured man seemed to have jumped of his own accord, The Australian reported.

"The man we are looking is aware he's gone over and he might be able to tell us the rationale for jumping," said Detective Superintendent Gavin Wood.

News source, including News.com.au, noted that the visitor arrived empty-handed, but he was carrying a bag when he left the building.

News.com.au said the description of the visitor was that he was "Mediterranean" or "Middle Eastern." The injured man was described as "Swedish-American." Reports said that his family was on their way from the United States to the hospital where he is now being treated.

The police took the occasion to remind the public of safety protocols when meeting people online or through dating apps. "Know who you are meeting, where you're meeting them, what their intentions are and perhaps establish some safeguards beforehand such as providing close friends with those details," Wood told the press.
