Godzilla: King Of The Monsters
JC Alvarez READ TIME: 2 MIN.
The king of all monsters has arrived!
The biggest blockbuster of the season is now available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital! "GODZILLA: King of the Monsters" is loose, and he can't be tamed. A proper sequel to the 2014 big screen reboot that reintroduced the atomically powered giant lizard to today's audience, this film is laying down the groundwork for a cinematic "monster-verse" inhabited by the movie's greatest beasts. At the center of them all is none other than Godzilla, and only he holds the fate of our planet in his enormous scaly hands.
After the events that nearly leveled most of the West Coast, including San Francisco, the world has become wary and aware of the presence of "titans" among us. Monarch is a global organization dedicated to preserving these creatures and exploring a way for mankind to live alongside them. Unfortunately, ecoterrorists have other ideas. With the help of a crypto-zoologist (Vera Farmiga), who is able to crack the code on how to communicate with these creatures, another alpha predator to rival Godzilla is unleashed, and all hell breaks loose!
Featuring Millie Bobby Brown, the star of Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things," in her first big-screen role, this ber-blockbuster goes above and beyond expectations of fans of the genre; revitalizing the monster movie and bringing it firmly into the 21st Century. Godzilla is joined in this feature by some of the most familiar beasts brought back to life, including the three-headed Monster "0," Mothra, and Rodan – all very familiar to monster enthusiasts. The monsters aren't the only stars in this movie, either: Kyle Chandler and Bradley Whitford are also onboard.
"Godzilla: King of the Monsters" is as bombastic as you can imagine. It was loud in theaters, and if you're lucky to sport the latest in home-theater entertainment technology, then you're in luck. The film as much of punch on the 4K widescreen at home as it did on the jumbo screen. It's a perfect action film, full of larger-than-life excitement and explosions. The human heroes are only along for the ride; after all, the real stars are Godzilla and the many number of skyscrapers that get leveled during the film's final big brawl. You'll find yourself cheering for the big guy!
The Blu-ray disc is packed with behind-the-scenes bonus features, including several in-movie looks at the film's starring cast of monsters, with commentary from the director, and deleted scenes. "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" is part of something bigger than itself, and properly heralds the age of the monster-verse. The next installment is promising: a big cage match when Godzilla meets Kong... and, hopefully, there'll be something left of the planet to see these two colossuses go up against their next adversary. Long live Godzilla! The king has come home!
