"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" may be the last installment in the Skywalker series but it also features a first: The first time an LGBTQ character is seen and a first same-sex kiss.

Earlier this month, director J.J. Abrams suggested fans would see a queer character in the film. And after "The Rise of Skywalker" screened this week, The Hollywood Reporter writes that two female members of the Resistance "share an exuberant kiss during" a celebration and a "joyful moment."

"They are minor characters and not heavily featured in the film," THR notes.

When speaking about LGBTQ representation, Abrams told Variety that "it was important to me that people who go to see this movie feel that they're being represented in the film." He also said that characters Poe (Oscar Isaac) and Finn (John Boyega) would not become romantically involved, dashing the hopes of many fans who hoped the two would be an item.
