"Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" made headlines ahead its world debut when it was reported that it features the first same-sex in the franchise's history but it is now being reported some countries have nixed the tender queer moment.
The BBC reports Disney cut the kiss shared between two moment during a celebration for the film's run in Singapore. The country's media regulatory body told the outlet that Disney removed the scene so it could retain its PG-13 rating.
"The applicant has omitted a brief scene which under the film classification guidelines would require a higher rating," Ta spokesperson from IMDA told the BBC, which goes on to note it is unclear if Disney or Lucasfilm, the production company behind the "Star Wars" films, made the decision to remove the same-sex kiss scene.
A number of people who saw the film in the United Arab Emirates told The Hollywood Reporter the scene was missing from the "The Rise of Skywalker."
Nevertheless, censors in China allowed the gay kiss.
