Watch: Electronic Artist Sophie Releases Beautiful New Queer Anthem 'It's Okay to Cry'

The enigmatic British electronic musician Sophie has created some of the most interesting music of the last few years without ever revealing her true identity. But that changed Thursday when she debuted a new song and music video with herself front and center.

Having worked with pop stars like Charli XCX, Madonna and more, Sophie's newest single "It's Okay to Cry" puts the spotlight directly the musician. The emotional ballad and undeniable queer anthem is her first release since her singles collection "Product" from 2015.

"The song and video flesh out unseen sides of SOPHIE, touched on in previous releases and diverse production works and now taking new and unexpected forms," a statement reads, according to the Fader.

Sophie, who tweeted the video with the message "A WHOLE NEW WORLD," co-directed the clip along with Nicholas Harwood. She will premiere her "newly imagined show" on OCt. 24 as part of the Red Bull Music Academy Festival in L.A.
