Arthur

Jeremiah Tash READ TIME: 1 MIN.

It's tough to truly know where Russell Brand ("Forgetting Sarah Marshall", "Get Him to the Greek") ends and his characters begin. As the titular character from the Dudley Moore movie from the '80s, Brand hams it up as a rich moron whose only semi-functional female relation is his nanny, played by Helen Mirren (obviously). The plot is cardboard, but Brand and Mirren, plus Greta Gerwig ("Greenberg") breathe some life into it.

Billed as "hilarious", there is a gag reel (funny, but not too mind-blowing); additional "don't call me deleted" scenes, which are a mixed bag of "I know why they cut this one" and "that was funny but I guess they thought 110 minutes was long enough"; and "Arthur Unsupervised," which is Brand and director Jason Winer being cheeky and silly while discussing the movie and the shoot (at least this one had a touch of creativity).

It's probably safe to say that only hard-core Brand fans will dig "Arthur", let alone the extra features.
